Senior Product Designer — Design Systems
About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer with deep expertise in design systems to unify the user experience across our micro-services platform. You will own the creation, governance, and evolution of a shared design system that ensures visual and interaction consistency across every product surface — regardless of which team or service builds it.
This is a high-impact, foundational role. You will work at the intersection of design and engineering, partnering closely with Engineering managers, frontend developers, Team Leads and Business Analysts to establish a single source of truth for UI patterns, components, tokens, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain a comprehensive design system (components, patterns, and documentation) in Figma or Tool of your choice and code-ready specifications.
- Conduct a full UI audit across existing services to identify inconsistencies, redundancies, and opportunities for consolidation.
- Define and enforce design principles, interaction patterns, accessibility standards, and brand guidelines that apply platform-wide.
- Create and maintain a shared Figma or other tool component library with variants, auto-layout, and proper documentation for self-service adoption by other designers
- Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure design-to-code fidelity, contributing to or reviewing component implementations in frameworks such as React or Vue.
- Establish a governance model for the design system: contribution guidelines, versioning, deprecation policies, and a change review process.
- Champion adoption through onboarding sessions, internal documentation, and regular design-system updates.
- Partner with engineering leadership to align the design system roadmap with platform priorities.
Required Technical Skills
Experience with design token tooling (e.g., Style Dictionary, Tokens Studio) and integration into CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Storybook or similar component documentation/playground tools.
Background in atomic design methodology or other scalable design frameworks.
Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source design systems.
Understanding of micro-frontend architectures and how shared UI libraries are consumed across independently deployed services.
Motion and interaction design skills (prototyping in Figma, Principle, or code)
Preferred Skills
6+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years focused on design systems or component libraries.
A portfolio that demonstrates a design system you built or significantly evolved — showing components, pattern documentation, and adoption metrics.
Expert-level proficiency in Figma or any design tool, including component variants, auto-layout, design tokens, and team libraries.
Strong understanding of frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and component-based frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) — enough to collaborate meaningfully with engineers and review code.
Experience working in multi-product or multi-team environments where design consistency was a core challenge.
Deep knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, thorough documentation and present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
